About the Blue Flag

This is the seventh year that the Herzliya Marina is flying the Blue Flag (since 2013), and the fifth year (since 2015) that the Acadia North and Acadia Center beaches are also flying the Blue Flag!

The Foundation for Environmental Education (FEE) Blue Flag represents a unique voluntary, international environmental-educational program for the coastal environment. The Blue Flag aims to raise environmental awareness among beach users, the communities surrounding the beaches and beach operators, while encouraging good environmental management.

The Blue Flag is awarded to beaches, marinas and yacht owners that meet the stringent safety, sanitary and environmental education requirements. Among other things, the criteria pertain to water quality, accessibility for the disabled, recycling bins and protecting the coastal environment. The Blue Flag is currently flown by more than 4560 beaches, marina and yachts in more than 45 countries, among them 50 sites in Israel!
