Apollonia

The ancient site of Apollonia is located on a rock cliff overlooking the Herzliya shoreline. The first settlers in the Apollonia area were the Phoenicians during the Persian period. At the time, the site was called Arshuf, after the Phoenician god Reshef. During the Byzantine period, the people living at Apollonia lived a rich life. Industry and trade centers were discovered, together with the maritime center for the entire southern Sharon area.

The site is open to the public and is the main historical-archeological site in the Sharon area.
